Salvation

Why, Who or What Do I Need To Be Saved For or From?

"Why, do I need to be saved? Who or what am I being saved from? Is there a certain prayer I need to pray? Do I get to go to heaven? What happens if I'm not saved?”

First, salvation is faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Salvation cannot be attained by you being a good person or your good works. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and not from yourselves, it is a gift from God, not by works, so that no man can boast." Jesus is the only way to God and heaven. (John 14:6)

Salvation is simple, clear and a gift. You have to know what you are receiving and believe in what you receive. We must acknowledge we are a sinner, and we have sinned against God. Romans 3:23 tells us no one has ever lived a sinless life, except one, Jesus. Jesus was tempted in every way, just like we are, yet he never sinned (Hebrews 4:15) Our sin separates us from God. We deserve judgment that results in death and eternal separation from him,  but the good news is we can have eternal life by receiving a gift from God through Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:23).

Jesus is God, he loved us so much that he came to this earth and lived a sinless life, teaching us the truth about God and man. While he was on earth, man rejected him and had him put to death by crucifixion. Jesus knew all of this would happen before he even chose to leave heaven and come to earth. The prophets had prophesied his coming, death and resurrection thousands of year before he came to earth. Jesus chose to take our place for the judgment of our sins through his death by crucifixion. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus was then resurrected (1 Corinthians 15) proving his sacrifice was sufficient and complete, as he had over come sin and death.  God tells us to repent of our sins (Acts 17:30) and have faith Jesus' payment for our sins was 100 percent compete. (1 John 2:2) With his sacrifice we are offered salvation as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ.

Salvation Prayer

There are no secret words or a special or specific prayer written in the Bible to recite, but there are a handful of things to acknowledge and believe for us to be saved.

1. We must believe Jesus is the son of God, he lived a sinless life, died for our sins and rose from the dead.

2. We must acknowledge that we are sinful and in need of a savior. We must REPENT and ask for forgiveness for our sins knowing his payment was sufficient and complete with his resurrection.

3. We must rely on him alone as our savior, invite him into our hearts to make us new and make him lord of our life.

*Making him Lord of your life is making a commitment to follow him every day of your life. *

"Lord Jesus, I know I'm a sinner, and I'm desperately in need of a savior. Please forgive me of my sins. I understand and believe you are the Son of God. You came to this earth and lived a sinless life. You were crucified, died and rose from the dead as payment for my sins. Please come into my heart and make me new. I will trust and live for you!  Thank you for saving me and allowing me to spend eternity in heaven with you."

If you have REPENTED & BELIEVED then you are saved!

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

The Bible says the angels in heaven rejoice before God over one sinner who repents. (Luke 15:10)
